Canned food drive for Make a Difference Day

What Difference Is Your Store Making?

There is one day a year set aside for making a difference, and we will absolutely celebrate it. But a single day has always felt like a strange way to measure something. The real question is what happens on the other three hundred and sixty four.

So here is ours, laid out plainly. Every week, we put money directly back into this community. Not a donation at the end of the year, not a percentage of something. Cash, across the counter, to women who walked in with a bag of clothes. That money goes to groceries and soccer fees and a tank of gas. It stays here.

Every week, we keep clothing out of a landfill. Thousands of pieces that would have been thrown away instead go home with somebody who will actually wear them. Nobody manufactured anything new to make that happen.

We are also a local employer, and we pay well above what retail typically pays, with weekly bonuses on top. The women who work here can afford to work here. That should not be remarkable, and yet.

And then there is the part that is just fun, which also counts. Special deals and free gifts. Free personal shopping, where somebody who knows the floor pulls pieces for you while you sit down. A free color analysis quiz, when nearly every app charges you to find out which shades suit you. Prices that run around 70% off retail, so a full outfit costs what one mall sweater does.

We are not saying this to pat ourselves on the back. We are saying it because it is worth asking of anywhere you spend money.

What difference is that store making in your life? What difference is it making in your town? When you hand over your money, where does it go, and does any of it come back?

That is the whole idea behind this place. Best prices, best service, and a real commitment to women taking care of women. One woman lets go of what she has outgrown and gets paid for it. Another woman finds exactly what she needed at a price that does not hurt. Both of them walk out better off, and nothing got wasted in between.

Come see what came in. And if your closet is holding things you no longer wear, bring them. That is how all of this works.
